about Robin Cornett

Robin Cornett

I’m Robin Cornett. I like to figure things out.

I think you should know that about me because it encapsulates why I’m here, doing what I do.

Random fact: you know that song, “Heads Carolina, Tails California” by Jo Dee Messina? (Am I totally dating myself here?) The one where the chorus goes like this?

Heads, Carolina Tails, California.
Somewhere greener, somewhere warmer.
Up in the mountains, down by the ocean.
Where? It don’t matter, as long as we’re goin’
Somewhere together. I’ve got a quarter.
Heads, Carolina Tails, California.

In our marriage, we have now done all of these. We’re currently up in the mountains, just outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and are looking forward to the next part of our adventure.

I am a wife to Andy. I’m a mother of three children who are growing up all too quickly. When they were very young, I was a full time mom. When they were a bit older, I started my own little photography business. I built my first (horrible) website and then discovered WordPress. Gradually, I learned to tinker with it.

One day, a friend called with a problem. Her company website was built with a custom CMS (content management system), and it was very difficult and costly for them to make any changes. Would I be willing to help her figure out how to build a WordPress website? Of course, I said sure, and we spent a frantic month up to our elbows in CSS and widgets and Photoshop. And I discovered that it was a lot of fun.

That site started a new phase in my business—along with documenting happy families in love with each other, I started designing websites. I believe that anyone with a website should be able to update it themselves, and should not have to hire someone to add a new page, or change a phone number. That’s why I build websites with WordPress—I can do so much with it, and still give my clients a website that they don’t need me to take care of for them (although some of them still do).

Other than that, you should know that I thrive on coffee, chocolate, red wine (not white), and Diet Coke. I love my husband. I adore grammar, but not capital letters. I’m not cute or fluffy or frilly. I cut my hair short so I wouldn’t have to mess with it. I like dogs, but not cats. I love babies, but I’m glad mine are growing up. I am a totally tangential thinker, but trust me, there’s always a connecting thread. Well, almost always.
