Privacy Policy

I value your privacy as much as I do my own, so I’m committed to keeping your personal and business information safe. I’m uncomfortable with the information companies, governments, and other organizations keep on file, so I ask for only the bare minimum from my customers. I’ll never use your personal information for any reason other than why you gave it, and I’ll never give anyone access to it unless I’m forced to by law.

My website address is: https://robincornett.com.

What personal data I collect and why I collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, I collect the data shown in the comments form and the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you submit a contact form, I ask for contact information including your name, email address, and phone number (optional), so that I can reply to your inquiry.

I collect your email address when you sign up for one of my newsletters.

I ask for your account and contact information when you hire or buy something from me.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, several cookies are also set up to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Ecommerce

I collect information about you during the checkout process on my store. This information may include, but is not limited to, your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your orders.

Handling this data also allows me to:

  • Send you important account/order/service information.
  • Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
  • Process payments and to prevent fraudulent transactions. I do this on the basis of my legitimate business interests.
  • Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.

Additionally, I may also collect the following information:

  • Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order, or if I need to estimate taxes and shipping costs based on your location.
  • Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active.
  • Your comments and product reviews if you choose to leave them on my website.
  • Account email/password to allow you to access your account, if you have one.
  • If you choose to create an account, your name, address, and email address, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

I do use Google Analytics for tracking visitor behavior. The information collected is anonymized, and includes geolocation, browser type/version, device type, and what content you read.

Who I share your data with

I share your data only with third party services which provide the services I use. This includes but may not be limited to: payment processors (mentioned above), MailChimp (email marketing), HelpScout (support tickets). I do not otherwise share or sell your data.

How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on this website (if any), I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data I hold about you, including any data you have provided to me. You can also request that I erase any personal data I hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where I send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

If you have concerns or questions about how your data is managed on this site, please contact me directly.

Additional information

How I protect your data

Any data stored on my site is stored securely with SSL encryption. Since my company is currently just me, only I have access to this information. When I store your information with a third-party service, access is restricted only to those who need it (me). My passwords are stored with an encrypted password manager, and all passwords are randomly generated and unique to each service.

Changes to the policy

If I change the contents of this policy, those changes will become effective the moment I publish them on my website.
